Originals
All of my fine art originals are first sketch out
with pencil on an acid free piece of Bristol board, usually a heavy
stock to decrease the work from wrinkling.
After the work is laid out and sketched,
I begin to use colored ink with spring water to add the detailed color
of the species – each color is mixed for precise variations and then
applied with a sable brush. After
the pigment dries – I then use black ink with a rapidograph pen with a
needle point applying small dots for shading and highlighted areas
(known as stippling or pointillism).
Pointillism is a style and technique used in
drawing that is also referred to as stippling. The technique is when dots are
grouped together to form an image. The closer the dots are together, the darker
the tones. The farther apart the dots are the lighter the tones.
